What are Smith Broughton Opening Hours?

Our office and yard have different operation times; please see below the opening times.

Office: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Yard:   8:00am – 4:30pm (for pick ups, drop-offs and inspections):

 
Am I required to wear Personal Protective Equipment when visiting the offices and yard?

All visitors are required to wear enclosed footwear and wear a high visual vest. We provide all visitors with a high visual vest during the sign in process at reception. 

 
Does Smith Broughton have onsite parking?

Smith Broughton has onsite parking located in front of our office. This is accessible via Military Road.

 
Can I inspect lots that are in an auction?

Yes, we encourage inspection of all lots prior to bidding as these are sold on an ‘as is’ basis. Inspection dates & times may change for off site auctions, details are found within the auction listing. Please note, inspection times run between Monday – Friday, 8.30am-4.30pm, excluding weekends and public holidays.

 
I am having problems viewing the website

If you are experiencing technical difficulties with our website, please make sure you are using the most up to date version of your browser. We recommend Chrome. Please contact out office on 9274 9222 if issues persist. 

What can I do if I make a mistake while bidding? 

Please call the Smith Broughton office on (08) 9540 0802 as soon as possible or send us an email. Note – this will be actioned between Mon – Fri, 8am – 5pm.

 
What are our payment terms?

As per the bidders terms and conditions all invoices are required to be paid in full within 24 hours of the raised invoice.

 
What are our accepted payment options?

Buyers at Smith Broughton Auctioneers have various payment options which include Cash, Bank Cheque, Personal or business Cheque, Electronic Funds Transfer, Eftpos and Credit Card.

 
How long do I have to collect my goods?

Once paid in full, we ask for all goods to be collected within 48 hours of the sale. After 48 hours, storage fees will occur.

 
What are Smith Broughton’s buyer’s premium charges?

Buyer’s Premium: 8.8% Inc GST on purchases $5001 or more; or 15% Inc GST on purchases $5000 or less.

 

Can I register as both my business and as an individual?

Yes, providing you have both a business email and a personal email. An email address can only be used once when registering.

 

Why can I not log into my internet bidding?

You may not be able to log into your internet bidding account if you have not activated your account. On first registration, you will be emailed an activation email. Be sure to check your inbox for this. Once received, follow the prompts within the email and your account will be activated. During office hours our staff approve all new bidders daily. Another reason may be that your account has temporarily been suspended due to not complying with the terms and conditions.

 

I purchased a licensed vehicle, what happens next?

Once your payment has cleared, transfer papers will be issued in the name on your invoice. You are required to supply either a copy of your driver’s license (if the invoice is issued in a personal name) or a current ACN (Australian Company Number). Email this information using our contact form.

 

Why does my invoice not have GST on it?

Your invoice does not have GST on it as the seller is not registered for GST, therefore you are not required to pay GST as the seller is selling the asset privately or unregistered for GST.

What are my asset disposal options?

Smith Broughton can offer a range of flexible asset disposal options including:

  • Outright Purchase
  • Expressions of interest
 
What are out consignment sale options?
  • Unreserved 
  • Reserved
  • Guaranteed Minimum Return 
 
What does ‘Unreserved’ mean?

An item that is unreserved means that there is no figure, or reserve, the item must receive before selling. No matter what the bid, the item will sell to the highest bidder.

 

What does ‘Reserved’ mean?

An item that is reserved means that there is a figure the item must receive before selling.

 

What does ‘Guaranteed Minimum Return mean?

For selected items, Smith Broughton may offer you a GMR or Guarantee, where we guarantee the amount your equipment will receive at auction. If the auction value does not meet the guarantee, Smith Broughton will pay the difference.

What are the operation hours of the yard?

Our yard is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm for pick ups and drop offs.

 
Does your yard have loading facilities?

Yes, our yard has forklifts and yard staff to assist with loading your goods onto your truck. However, we do not have ramps on site. 

 
Do you have an entrance for trucks?

There is a pickup and drop off entry at our main entrance on Military Road.

 
How do I collect my purchased goods?

Firstly, all purchased goods you are required to be paid in full prior to collection. Once goods are paid for you will be required to come to reception, provide your sale number and buyer code. Our admin staff will approve your goods for collection and from there our yard staff will assist yourself in loading the goods onto your vehicle.

 
What if someone else is collecting the goods on my behalf?

If you are unable to collect your purchased goods yourself, you are required to complete a pick up authorisation form that was sent along with your invoice. 

 

Can I freely inspect assets in the yard? Am I required to wear Personal Protective Equipment?

Smith Broughton allows you to freely inspect assets, however all visitors are required to wearing enclosed footwear, sign in at reception and collect a high visual vest supplied by us.
