Ryan has recently started as a Sales Representative for Smith Broughton Agriculture.

What is your background in regards to agriculture?

I was lucky enough to grow up on my family’s broad acre cropping farm in Miling and worked seasonally in years after school. During this time, I developed a passion for agriculture and an understanding of farming practice.

What does a typical day at work involve?

Working at Smith Broughton Agriculture see’s wide range of tasks day to day. Specializing in buying and selling of low hour ag gear we are often out of the office inspecting machinery for purchase or meeting customers. Cleaning and detailing of machinery are also a crucial aspect of maintaining presentation.

What kind of equipment do you personally sell at Smith Broughton Agriculture?

While our sales manager Geof Unbehaun is responsible for overseeing all agricultural sales, I am tasked with the sales of lower horse power farming machinery, such as front wheel assist tractors, front end loaders and trucks.

Where do you travel to view machinery?

Thanks to the versatility of Smith Broughton Agriculture we are able to travel the state on a regular basis to view machinery. While the majority of our work is based in the West Australian Wheatbelt we are not limited and often look nationally, even globally.

Who do you buy from/ sell too?

We are a reliable trader for anyone in the agricultural market, commonly buying from both dealerships and farmers alike. Once the machine is in the yard it will be for direct sale and advertised accordingly on various platforms. Since our Machinery is typically specialized farming equipment, Farmers are our primary customer.

What part of your job do you enjoy the most?

Coming from a farming background I thoroughly enjoy being immersed in the farming community and building long lasting productive relationships.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

Outside of work I will often return home to the family farm, be out camping or playing a number of sports.
